The Event Awards are Going Ahead with Updated Categories and New Initiatives

In March and April 2021, we reached out to the industry for input about the Australian Event Awards for 2021. The resounding message we received was: the Awards should go ahead in 2021 with a substantial rework to represent and acknowledge the strength and resilience of the changed industry.

In light of this feedback, the Australian Event Awards will go ahead in 2021 with an array of key changes that aim to recognise the transformations of the industry. Read about the 2021 key changes below or on our website.

Updated Categories

In 2021, the Co-Chairs have updated the categories to acknowledge events that were delivered in an online format. Specifically, categories have been separated into 'Virtual' and 'Live or Hybrid' to allow events delivered entirely online to compete solely against one another and Live or Hybrid events to compete amongst themselves.

"The 2021 categories aim to be inclusive of all types of event delivery and to reflect the way the industry now operates. This will provide an opportunity for those who have produced virtual, hybrid or live events to showcase their accomplishments, highlight their innovations and acknowledge the changes they have had to make." Brenda LaPorte, Co-Chair of the Judging Panel.

'Australian Event Industry Month' & More Key Changes

The Co-Chairs and Awards management team have designed a new Industry initiative in 2021 by naming October 'Australian Event Industry Month'.

During October, the Event Awards will be showcasing the works, achievements, and accomplishments of the industry by posting highlights of every Awards entrant on our social media channels. These highlights serve to acknowledge every entrant and showcase what the industry has been able to achieve despite Covid-19.

We would also like to invite the industry to participate in #AussieEventsMonth by asking anyone who is interested to reach out to us with thoughts on what other initiatives might be included.
