Major events and experiences are Kelly’s speciality. After a ten year career with the Victorian Major Events Company (now Visit Victoria) which spanned some of the biggest global events in sport, arts and entertainment, Kelly spent the past few years consulting to event owners, host cities and venues in Australia and internationally, providing advice on strategy, bidding, content, commercial, marketing and communications.
Kelly recently relocated to New Zealand to take on the newly-created role of Director Commercial and Growth with Regional Facilities Auckland, which operates a diverse range of entities including the Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Zoo, Auckland Stadiums, Auckland Live & Conventions (Aotea Centre and Civic Theatre) and the New Zealand Maritime Museum.
An early career as a communications and marketing professional in theatre, film and festivals has provided a strong foundation for a major events career. More recently, career highlights include creating White Night Melbourne and White Night Ballarat, winning bids to host major art exhibitions, musical theatre premieres, and a range of sports events including the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup and International Champions Cup, and on behalf of a consortia of clients in the Philippines, Indonesia and Japan, the winning bid for the 2023 FIBA Basketball Men’s World Cup.
