Public Voting to decide Australia's Favourite Event

Australia's Favourite Event allows every Australian to cast a vote for the best public event that they attended between July 2012 June 2013. As examples, music festivals, sporting, community and cultural events all eligible.

Nominations have been entered for events across Australia such as Clipsal 500 Adelaide, Bluesfest Byron Bay, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Sculpture by the Sea, RSPCA Million Paws Walk, Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras, Dampier Beachside Markets, Melbourne Comedy Festival, Ten Days on the Island, Mumbrella360, Illawarra Folk Festival and Taste of Sydney.

There has been a storm of activity from event owners as they maximise public votes by creating direct vote links to use across social media. Facebook and Twitter feeds across the nation are alive with photographs of marathons, music festivals, car races, arts and cultural events and local markets. Several event owners are also engaging with local media gaining an even wider reach. Australians from around the country are having their say and votes are flooding in.

Public voting opened four days ago. So far over 16 500 votes have been cast.

Voting is free and open to anyone in Australia at Nominations will stay open till Monday 4th November.

The top ten finalists will be announced on Monday 4th November and voting continues. The winner for Australia's Favourite Event will be announced at the 2013 Australian Event Awardsto be held at Doltone House, Hyde Park in Sydney's CBD on November 19th.
