Australia's Favourite Event

Events play a central part in our culture. We plan our weekends and our holidays around them. States bid against each other for the right to host them. Now, we will find out which event is most loved by Australian's this year, which event engages them and gains their support above all others. 

Australia's Favourite Event is the public's chance to name their most popular event, the event that engages them, that earns their devotion and support. 

Australia's Favourite Event - Nominate your Event Today!

Australia's Favourite Event allows every Australian to vote for their favourite public event that they attended between the beginning of July 2012 and the end of June this year. Events such as music festivals, sporting events, community events, cultural and commemorative events will compete for votes and the winner will be announced at the Australian Event Awards Industry Night of Nights in November.

Nominations are open now. Nominating your event is free, quick and completed online.

Public voting opens for Australia's Favourite Event next week on Monday 21st October. Event organisers across the country should nominate their event before this date to ensure they maximise their chance to win. Voting is free and open to anyone in Australia at

The top ten finalists will be announced on Monday 4th November and voting continues. The winner for Australia's Favourite Event will be announced at the 2013 Australian Event Awards Industry Night of Nights, to be held at Doltone House, Hyde Park in Sydney's CBD on November 19th.

Jessica Watson's Homecoming

In 2010, Jessica Watson's Homecoming was named Australia's Favourite Event. Who can forget the delightful young sailor and her triumphant return to Sydney Harbour, and the importance of this great event.

"I was so overwhelmed when I sailed into Sydney Harbour…It was a day I will treasure for the rest of my life and clearly a lot of other people must have felt the same way," Watson said.

Make it Easy for the Public to Vote

Now that you have nominated your event, here are a few things you might like to do to maximise votes:

  • Upload an image of your event.
  • Create a unique Vote Code for your event to make it easier for people to vote for it. Try using an acronym or recognisable abbreviation of your event name.
  • Promote your voting through emails, newsletters, your website & social media platforms. Either send your contacts the Vote Code that they can use online or send them the Direct Vote Link for them to click on to automatically cast their vote.
