Vivid Sydney joins the Symposium program

It's all happening at the Event Awards HQ! The creative director of Vivid Sydney has joined the Symposium program, plus, with plenty of time left to enter the Event Awards, we've got more tips to help you submit a spectacular entry and a great way for you to recognise and reward the best in your organisation.

Vivid Sydney Creative Director joins Symposium program

Ignatius Jones, one of the world's leading major event directors and creative director of Vivid Sydney, has joined the line-up of keynote speakers on Day 1 of the Event Symposium. Ignatius will shed light on the inspiration behind the world's largest festival of light, music and ideas, which, in 2016, attracted a record 2.31 million attendees.

Nominate somone outstanding for an Event Award

Anyone under 30 can be nominated for the Young Achievers category, excellent event producers can be nominated in the Event Producer of the Year category, while veterans of the industry can be put forward for a Lifetime Achievement Award.

So if you know of someone who should be recognised for making a remarkable contribution to the Australian events industry, why not help them get the appreciation they deserve?

A friendly nudge to get started: Entry tip #12

There's still plenty of time to knock out an excellent Event Awards entry before entries close on 25 July. With 20 days to go, how about a tip to get you going?

One of the key considerations for judges is assessing what you achieved with the resources you had, in the context of your environment and circumstances, so let the them know the challenges presented by staging your event or accomplishing your achievement, whether they be budgetary, logistical or something else. There is a specific criterion which takes this into account in your score and it's worth 20 percent of your entry.
