Australia's Top Ten Favourite Events Revealed

With over 36,000 votes across 145 nominated events, Australia has revealed its Top Ten favourite events.


Australia's Favourite Event Top Ten Are...

Australia has voted for their favourite events and the top ten finalists are (in alphabetical order)...

Australian Billy Cart Championships: This annual festival celebrates and showcases the spirit of the earliest form of racing - billy cart racing. This event also provides the opportunity for entrants and spectators to develop their racing skills and enjoy fabulous music and entertainment.

Ballarat Begonia Festival: This carnival and community cultural festival is held annually in Ballarat. It attracted a record crowd in 2014, with 45,000 people attending the event over three days.

Bendigo Easter Festival: This annual festival attracts over 100,00 people over the three-day event and includes the Easter procession which sees Sun Loong, the longest imperial dragon in the world, dance through the streets.

Blues on Broadbeach Blues Festival: The music festival magically transforms May into a mega-magnet for tourists. This major Queensland event attracted more than 125,000 attendees this year directly benefitting the local economy and strengthening its reputation as one of the largest Blues festivals in the country.

Byron Bay Bluesfest: This five day annual music festival staged over the Easter long weekend showcased over 200 performances across seven stages. Over 104,000 festival visitors were welcomed at the event to experience a massive array of the best blues, roots, alternative, folk, funk, soul, gospel and reggae artists from around the world.

Club Marine Southern 80 Water Ski Race: Staged every February, this race attracts over 500 entries from all over Australia with international representation from New Zealand, Great Britain and the USA. The event see entrants take to the river from Torrumbarry to Echuca, navigating the 120 bends in this part of the river.

Grace Gala 2014: This event raised over $500,000 for the Grace Centre for Newborn Care at the Children's Hospital at Westmead and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Research Foundation. The evening offered guests the exclusive opportunity to bid on a range of experiences and auction items.

Royal Australian Navy International Fleet Review: Commemorating the centenary of the flagship HMAS Australia which led the new Australian Fleet Unit into Sydney Harbour in 1913, the event saw approximately 40 visiting warship and 16 tall ships entering Sydney Harbour.

Santos Tour Down Under 2014: South Australia's largest event is an action-packed international event attracting the world's best cyclists for a nine day festival. Over 762,000 spectators had the opportunity to watch the cycling race anywhere along the 800km route and participate in the many events across the state.

Vivid Sydney: This 18 day winter festival celebrates light, music and creativity in the digital space. It sees inspiring 'light art' works transform the urban environment to music. The event saw 56 installations brought to life by 140 artists from 15 countries.

What's Next for Australia's Favourite Event

The pool of nominations has now been reduced to Australia's favourite ten. 

It's time to lodge your votes for your favourite event and call on friends and colleagues to boost the nominations with their votes.

Any votes accrued since the event was first nominated are retained so it's time to increase these.

Don't forget, anyone any can vote for any of these ten events that they attended.

Voting will close at 9:00pm AEST on Tuesday November 11 and the winner announced at the Industry Night of Nights.
