Meet one of our Major Partners, Aggreko – “the world’s leading provider of modular, mobile power and temperature control”, says Stuart McLaughlin, Events Sector Manager at Aggreko. “At Aggreko, we are all about recognising, developing and nurturing new talent, so it’s fitting for us to be aligned with the ‘Best New Event’ category. Supporting these Awards helps showcase one of our sectors at Aggreko that is not necessarily perceived as the biggest, but certainly one of the most interesting and exciting!”
From urban development to unique commercial projects and even humanitarian emergencies, Aggreko bring their expertise and equipment to any location, from the world’s busiest cities to some of the most remote places on earth.
“What I love about the events industry is the build-up and hype of a stage event, the grand scale of a movie production, and the unpredictability of a live broadcast. No two events are alike – even if they’re repeated annually. I see one of the biggest challenges as cost management in a highly evolving industry in terms of technology, accessibility and safety.”
Aggreko provided 30MW of power across 30 competition and non-competition venues, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Athletes’ Village and Broadcast Centre at the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018. It was also Stuart’s favourite event of the year so far – not just from a professional perspective, also from a personal perspective, “being in my home town and also being a Queen’s Baton Bearer! It’s an event that my family and I will never forget.”
Aggreko recently acquired Generator Hire Service (GHS) – a specialist equipment rental company servicing the commercial, broadcast and entertainment industries for over 30 years.
GHS’s service offerings and ethos match very closely with those of Aggreko: a reliable, responsive service with 24/7 availability, use of quality equipment and a strong commitment to safety.
Why choose Aggreko for your next event? Because one of their core values is being ‘Expert’ – thinking outside the square to provide customers with the right solution to fit their requirements. “We very much have to rely on our expertise and not just wing it. Another value we practice in the events industry is being ‘Together’ – we are always working as a team to deliver the job for our customers.”
Stuart will join us on the Sunshine Coast on 21 November for the 10th Anniversary of the Awards – his 3rd year attending. “What stands out the most at these Awards is the comradery between the event industry folk and the passion they have for what they do. It’s infectious and one of the reasons I’ve worked in this space for such a long time.”
